Nayakanga (Ganja La) Peak - 5844m

Destination: Langtang
Duration : 18 days
Best Season : Mar-May; Oct-Nov

Grade : Hard
Max. Altitude : 5844

Nayaganga Peak lies south of the Kyanjin Gompa, the final destination of the popular Lang Tang trek in Lang Tang National Park. It overlooks the Lang Tang Valley and the holy lake Gosainkunda, and being close to kathmandu, it is one of the most accessible peaks in Nepal. It is a reasonably technical climb due to several factors, one being that most of the journey above Camp I covers significant snow slopes, and another being the numerous crevasses appearing below the summit. Prior to the summit there is also a short but challenging ridge section. The summit can be reached in two days from Kyanjin Village, or three days with a second camp at Kangla Phedi, just below the peak. This trip offers some superb and challenging climbing, as well as spectacular scenery from the summit with views of Jugal Himal, Langshisa Ri, and the highest mountain in Tibet, Mt. Shisapangma (8035 m).
