Kwangde Peak - 6011m

Destination: Everest Region
Duration : 16 days
Best Season : Mar-May; Oct-Nov

Grade : Moderate

Kwangde Peak, also known as Kongde Ri is a seldom climbed peak located south east of Namche Bazaar in the Khumbu region. To the west lie the Karvolung, Numbur and Khartang glaciers, rarely visited by mountaineers. This peak was first ascended by Japanese mountaineers in 1978 and is a technically complex climb due to it’s challenging and intricate routes, therefore it is suitable only for those with previous climbing experience. Kwangde Peak actually consists of four peaks forming a ridge overlooking the Bhotekoshi River on the east portion of Lumding Himal. The route from base camp involves a steep and snowy ascent to the summit which enjoys a panoramic view of Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Makalu, Lhotse, and others, as well as scattered clusters of Sherpa villages.
