The KTM boasts the largest number of heritage listed sites of any single place in the world, and is home to important numerous pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. This five day tour will give you a fascinating insight into the culture of the Newari people and the lifestyle of the Rajas (kings) of Nepal. Some of the key attractions include the three palace squares (Durbar Squares) of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, the largest Buddhist stupa in the world at Boudhanath, as well as the stupa at Swayambunath, also known as the Monkey Temple where you will encounter its many monkey residents.
You will also visit Pashupatinath, a fascinating and beautiful temple complex where Hindus have traditionally cremated their deceased for generations, as well as the ancient Hindu village of Changunarayan. A highlight of the trip will be the opportunity to see the Living Goddess, “Kumari" at the Kathmandu Durbar Square and receive a blessing.
Although this tour is limited to inside the Kathmandu Valley, there are many fascinating places to see and interesting things to do. If you wish you can also include a luxurious hotel stay, spa, yoga, golf and other activities in your trip.
Day 1 : Arrival and Transfer to Hotel
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be received by office representative and transferred to your hotel. The representative will help you to check in and brief you about your trip and other necessary basic information. Depending on your arrival time we might arrange sightseeing in one spot or an excursion around Thamel (tourist area). Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2 : Sightseeing (Kathmandu Durbar Square, Soyamnbhunath Stupa and Bouddhanath Stupa)
After breakfast we will begin our sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu valley. First you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square (Hunuman Dhoka Palace), Kastamandap Temple, Living Goddess Temple (KUMARI Ghar), and you may be able to see Living goddess KUMARI at Kumar Ghar. Then you will drive to Swoyambhunath Stupa which offers a majestic view of the entire Kathmandu valley. . After that you will drive towards Bouddhanath Stupa, one the largest stupas in Asia. En-route you will have lunch. Evening you will drive back to your hotel and relax.
Day 3 : Sightseeing (Pashupatinath Temple and Patan Durbar Square)
After breakfast, you will drive to visit Pashupatinath temple, a popular Hindu temple located alongside he Bagmati river. The open cremation place Arya Ghat, where you can see the cremation of the dead according to Hindu tradition. Afterwards, drive towards Patan Durban square, another of the three palace squares inside Kathmandu Valley. Durbar square, Golden Temple, Patan Museum, Mahabouddha Temple, Krishna Temple etc. and then return to hotel.
Day 4 : Sightseeing (Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Changunarayan)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to Bhaktapur about 15 km to the east from Kathmandu city where you will witness unique displays of culture and craftsmanship. Bhaktapur is the only place in Nepal which has remained untouched by western culture. Lion Gate, Golden Gate, Art Gallery, Statue of King Bhupatindra, Nyatapola Temple and fifty-five windowed Malla Palace are the major attractions of Bhaktapur. Lunch at bhaktapur. Afterwards, drive about 6km north from Bhaktapur to visit the oldest temple in Kathmandu Valley, Changunarayan Temple, which is very important historically. After that you will drive back to your hotel. We will then take you for a special dinner with cultural performance at an authentic Nepalese restaurant.
Day 5 : Departure
Breakfast at the hotel and spend the day at leisure until the time of departure. Transfer to Tribhuvan International airport (TIA) to board the onward flight for return journey.
