Dolpo Trekking

Destination: West Nepal
Duration : 18 days
Best Season : Apr - Sep

Grade : Strenuous
Max. Altitude : 5100m

For those after a challenging and truly “off the beaten track” adventure, Dolpo Trekking offers you the opportunity to experience a lesser known and uniquely stunning part of Nepal. Only open to travellers since 1989, the Dolpo Himalaya region is similar to Tibet, in both landscape and culture. This remote region lies in the rain shadow of the Himalaya, and offers a fascinating contrast to the lush, green, monsoon soaked hills found elsewhere in Nepal. The Dolpo people are adherents of the ancient pre-Buddhist Bon religion, which has been preserved in this isolated region in its pure form. The Dolpo Himalaya is divided into two distinct regions, the Upper and Lower Dolpo. The Upper Dolpo currently requires a government issued permit for foreign travellers wishing to trek in the area
