Chulu East Peak - 6429

Destination: Annapurna Region
Duration : 20 days
Best Season : Mar-May; Oct-Nov

Grade : Hard
Max. Altitude : 6429

This is amongst the highest of the so called trekking peaks, and together with Chulu West, forms an integral part of the Manang Himal, lying between the remote rain shadow areas of the Annapurna range and rising above the dry arid Manang. Chulu East Peak is a considerably technical expedition-like peak and requires at least 4-6 days to climb from base camp. There are many crevasses between the far east and east portion of the climb, requiring a lot of fixed ropes until the north ridge. From the summit you will enjoy excellent views of the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Pisang Peak, Chulu West, and north towards the peaks that define the border of the vast Tibetan plateau. The trip to base camp enjoys an interesting variety of landscapes and culture, from the subtropical land of the Gurung people to the high Tibetan-like region of Manang.
